Sanger ISD administrators encouraged an image of school administrators as entitled government workers with hands out earlier this week. They wrote and performed a song, aimed at Governor Perry and a school budget the legislature didn’t grow as much as ISD bureaucrats wanted.
Assistant Superintendent Jackie Broom wrote the lyrics, providing a tool against Governor Perry in the midst of his election campaign. When interviewed by NBC DFW about it he insisted that he is non-political.
One of the lines in the song is “Where are you Rick Perry…you promised to provide funding for all Texas children.” This line is delivered to an audience of SISD employees by three school district employees on the stage, singing in hillbilly costumes, and all of it on the clock.
Meanwhile, the latest TEA snapsot shows SISD collects $11,301 in revenue per pupil, but only $5,587 is spent on instruction. Some of the rest of it is spent this way.
