Jim Pitts shows bad form

March 14, 2011 | Blog

Appropriations Chair Representative Jim Pitts (R) is using an alleged private statement made by the Governor as a political lever. If true, this is a good way to embarrass someone who should be able to trust you. If untrue, it’s much worse.

Pitts claims Governor Perry privately told him he’s ready to use the Rainy Day Fund. This case of  “he said, he said” will likely be sorted out soon.

As goes friendship and loyalty with the top ranking member of your state party, Pitts is showing serious impertinence. After all, if the statement is true, it was spoken in trust between members of the same political party. The massive weight of the Governor’s public stances aren’t lost on either of these veteran politicians. Use of the Rainy Day Fund is the political issue of the day. Pitts is engaging in political gossip of the worst kind.

Parading this alleged private statement isn’t an honorable act.
